The Small Class Advantage
The Sugarman Design Imaging School offers you the comfort and efficiency of small or semi-private classes. You will learn at your own pace, and receive one-on-one assistance from a professional photographer with more than 15 years of photography and digital imaging experience. Photography Courses are offered in small groups of 2-6 students while Image Editing Courses are offered as one-on-one or groups of 2 only.

Your Very Own, Professional Workspace
To maximize the hands on learning experience you will have your own (supplied) computer workstation to learn on. If you have any trouble with a concept, Jonathan will be able to help you out individually because of the limited number of students accepted in each course. What's more, The Sugarman Design Imaging Studio is equipped with a large screen digital projection system, demonstrating lessons and techniques in real time, as you follow along on your own workstation.

Your Instructor
Visual communicator and educator, Jonathan Sugarman, operates Sugarman Design - a one-stop-shop for all services related to photography, graphic design and digital imaging education. His wide range of knowledge on photography, imaging, and design means that he will be able to answer any question you might have in class. Plus, he has all the necessary resources to tell you as much as you need to know on any one of these topics.

An avid photographer since 1978, Jonathan also has seven years of experience teaching college courses. What does this mean to you? It means that Jonathan is flexible and will be able to adapt to your learning style. Plus, he'll be able to provide you with clear, understandable explanations so that when you leave the course, you will have more than just knowledge - you will have a good understanding of all the concepts. His credentials include a diploma in Photography and Graphic design and over 15 years of professional experience in digital photography and image editing as well as a period of working as a photojournalist. All of his experience is at your fingertips; the only thing you need to do is ask questions!

Jonathan has been a Kingstonian all of his life but has also traveled to many parts of the world taking pictures along the way. His keen interest in photography has led him to explore all kinds of genres and styles from commercial to abstract. He'll teach you the in’s and the outs of the business just as he learned them - through hands-on experience. This guarantees that you will know the theory behind every concept covered in class, and more importantly, that you will be able to apply those concepts every time you get behind your camera or in front of your computer. Plus, Jonathan has put together sets of helpful handouts for each one of his courses. By the time you are finished the course, you will have your own booklet full of useful information that you can refer to at any time.

To Register
Registering for a class is fast and easy. Just decide which course is best suited to your needs, then click on the "Register or Inquire" link below the class description, then fill out the required fields. Soon afterwards your registration will be confirmed personally by Jonathan via e-mail or telephone. For your convenience, you can also register by phone at 613.546.0894, or by e-mail at jonathan@sugarman.ca. Once your registration has been confirmed, you must send a deposit cheque for $50 (non-refundable) payable to "Sugarman Design" to the following address:

Please Note: Courses are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment numbers are not met, in which case any payments will be refunded.

Fees and Payments
Fees are quoted at the end of each course description If you are mailing payment please allow sufficient time for mail delivery. All bookings require the $40 deposit in advance to guarantee your seat in the class. The balance will be due upon arrival at the class. Payment must be cash or cheque since we are not yet set up for electronic payments. Please note: deposits are non refundable except in the case of a class cancellation.

Discounts
All repeat students qualify for a lifetime 10% discount off course fees. After taking only one course you will qualify for this discount.

Custom Courses If you are interested in learning about a specific aspect of photography or image editing and don’t see it here, please inquire. I may be able to come up with a custom course tailored to your needs. Furthermore, if you see a course you like but can’t make the date, I'll do my best to run it again at a different time if you can find a couple of people to take it with you.

Location
The Sugarman Design Imaging School operates in a large home-based studio at 74 Metcalfe Ave., in the centre of Kingston, just southwest of the Kingston centre Loblaws.
